Rātaka o te wiki - Wiki Rima

Kia Ora whānau rāua tamariki,

We have been working hard in our Ōku Tūrangawaewae rotations in class this term. This week will be looking more closely at New Zealand’s culture as well as the culture of others throughout the world. For homework this week we will be asking students to spend their time completing work from in class Ōku Tūangawaewae rotations and homework tasks. We also encourage students to share what they have created and learnt with family at home.

Homework tasks can be found under the Mahi Kāinga - Homework tab on the blog.
In class rotation finishing includes:
Whakarongo Kid Statements
Whakarongo Kid Posters
Mana Enhancing Posters
Family Crests

Kahurangi POD will be hosting School Assembly this week. We welcome all whānau to come and celebrate our learning with us. We will be starting at 2:15 - see you there!

CRE will commence again this Friday 2nd March. If you wish to have your child excused from these classes you will need to put this in writing and send this through to cdurham@whakarongo.school.nz. For those parents who opted out last year, the request has been carried over to this year.

Senior Swimming Sports for our Year 5-8 students is fast approaching. This event is set for Thursday 8th March 2017 at the Makino Aquatic Centre in Feilding. Our Senior Swimming Sports will comprise of two events; competitive and fun, non-competitive events. This means that all of our Year 5-8 students, from the Kahurangi Pod, Navigator Centre and the Year 5’s from Haepapa will participate.

Wednesday swimming at Ashhurst will continue this week. This is a compulsory part of the curriculum. Please help your child in remembering to bring their togs. If your child is unable to attend a session, please notify a homeroom teacher.

We will be having our first house meeting this Wednesday Afternoon. We look forward to seeing our new House Leaders and council members run these this week!

We will be setting up our seesaw accounts this week. Please make sure your child has the app downloaded to allow them to share their learning with you at home. Once the app is installed we will run through the set up with the tamariki in class. Students will need to download the Seesaw Class App - families will need to download the Seesaw Family App to allow them to view their child’s learning journal.

We are looking forward to another fantastic week! Hope to see you on Friday.

Ngā Mihi,
Kahurangi Pouako
