Rātaka ō te wiki - Wiki Ono

Kia Ora whānau rāua tamariki,

We would like to start by congratulating all our tamariki on a fantastic assembly, and thanking those parents who were able to come and support our learners. It was a fabulous celebration of what we have been doing in class, and the confidence and community our children have built in their time in Kahurangi.

This week is the last of our Ōku Tūrangawaewae sessions. We are looking forward to seeing our students present their learning in creative ways. Next week we will start exploring innovative solutions throughout various STEM challenges. Our students are now connected and ready to share their learning with their whānau through Seesaw.

Unfortunately we have had issues with our printing system. As soon as we are able to, we will send home printed QR codes so you can connect with your child’s learning blog. Families will need to download the Seesaw Family App to allow them to view their child’s learning journal.

Parent-Teacher interviews are running in Week 9 from Monday to Wednesday. The site for bookings will go live on Thursday this week. Please visit the School Interviews website to make a booking from Thursday this week onwards.

Senior Swimming Sports for our Year 5-8 students is on this Thursday - the 8th March 2017 at the Makino Aquatic Centre in Feilding. Our Senior Swimming Sports will comprise of two events; competitive and fun, non-competitive events. This means that all of our Year 5-8 students, from the Kahurangi Pod, Navigator Centre and the Year 5’s from Haepapa will participate.

Wednesday swimming at Ashhurst will continue this week. This is a compulsory part of the curriculum. Please help your child in remembering to bring their togs. If your child is unable to attend a session, please notify a homeroom teacher.

This week’s homework is looking at creating a whānau census. Our tamariki will be asking questions to their whānau about some things that they would like to know, and creating a graph to represent their findings. Please find the homework task on the blog, and attached below.

Ngā Mihi,
Kahurangi Pouako
