Kia Ora whānau rāua tamariki,

What an amazing weekend we just had! It is fabulous to hear of all the exciting adventures of our tamariki over the weekend, enjoying the sunshine!

It is also great to see the fields open finally for our ākonga to get out and enjoy a bit of sport and play at break times. It is still quite wet out there so it’s a good idea for those enjoying some field time to bring some spare clothes just in case they get a bit muddy out there!

Congratulations to our students who took part in the Mathex competition on Friday - you guys were awesome! We’re always so proud to see our students being amazing Whakarongo Kids out and about in the community - and Mathex was no exception. Perseverance, innovation, collaboration and respect were all showcased on Friday - Ka rawe koutou!

Thanks to all of those who participated in, and donated to, Crazy Hair Day - it was a fabulous turn out for a fabulous cause! Here’s a pic of us all! More are available on our blog and seesaw :)

School will be closed on Wednesday due to strike action. We appreciate your support in this as we continue to negotiate for better outcomes for our students. Please find attached information regarding this action on the blog.

Unfortunately this means our Badminton Skills sessions on Wednesday cannot go ahead. We are still in the process of finalising alternative times for make up sessions and we will let you know as soon as we do.

Just a bit of advance notice that Kahurangi will be hosting assembly next Friday, 24th August. We look forward to sharing our learning with the kura (school) and our whānau - we would love to see you there!

We have had some fantastic homework coming in this week for our ‘technological advances - why and how is technology changing’. Due to this we will continue this activity for another week - if you haven’t already, this could be a fun activity to look at with your tamaiti (child) and get creative with!
Please find this on the blog.

For those students who would like extra homework, there is basic facts and spelling homework available on the blog for students to access, alongside with Chapter Chat activities.

Ngā Mihi,
Kahurangi Pouako
