Rātaka ō te wiki - Wiki Tekau

Kia Ora whānau rāua tamariki,

What an amazing week we had last week celebrating the learning of our ākonga (learners). They did a fantastic job of sharing their awesome mahi (work), and it was fantastic to hear that they are regularly sharing their learning experiences at home. If you missed out on the opportunity to carry out a Student Led Conference last week and would like to come in, please contact your tamaiti’s (child’s) pouako to arrange an appointment.

A HUGE kia ora (thank you) for those parents who were able to assist us on our trip to Te Manawa last week. Our tamariki had an amazing time - and are still buzzing about their time on stilts and their experience in the Old School! It’s always great to explore our learning in an authentic context, and without you this would not be possible - so again thanks!

House waiata competition will be held tomorrow, Tuesday 25th. We have been working hard on getting our singing voices just right. We are looking forward to a bit of healthy, good spirited, unbiased competition to promote the use of reo in our school - Gooooooo Kauri!!!

This week, for Kids Can, we are inviting students to support a great cause by bringing in a can of food. Students will receive a point for their house for each can of food donated. Collection boxes are set up in the atrium - thank you in advance for your support! Check out this great promotional poster from Zac below!

Ag Day is set to be held on Saturday 27th of October. This is the second Saturday of Term 4. Please lock this date in your diaries, and find details of both the home and school tasks on the Ag Day tab on the blog. It is a fantastic day, and we look forward to seeing what our creative learners come up with this year!

Badge Assembly will take place on Thursday, 27th September at 11:30. If you have the time, pop in and celebrate our wonderful learners achievements with us.

The last day of school for the term is this Friday 28th September. School will finish at 2pm. Please make sure you have made arrangements for your tamaiti (child) to be collected at the earlier time of 2pm.

Finally, there will be no homework this week. It’s week 10! As always, we still encourage students to foster their love of reading by cozying up with a great book, and maybe play some games that will help reinforce their times tables knowledge (look up greedy pig - it’s a great one and can also be played with dice!)

We wish you all a safe and enjoyable break - hopefully the sun will shine and you have a fabulous (well deserved) break with whānau and full of rekareka (fun).

We wish our Year 5 / 6 Tournament of Minds team, who will be competing in the International competition in Darwin these holidays, all the best! Kia kaha koutou! You will have the most amazing experience!

Ngā Mihi,
Kahurangi Pouako
