Rātaka ō te wiki - Wiki Ono

Kia Ora whānau rāua tamariki,

What a busy week we had last week! Ka pai to all of our students who showed kaha (courage), wairua (spirit) and panekiretanga (excellence) at our Kahurangi assembly. We were really proud of our pod and the sharing of their learning. It was great to see those of you who could make it supporting our tamariki and our Kapa Haka rōpu teina as they led the waiata.

Thank you to everyone for being so accommodating last week during the industrial action, we know this a disruption for all involved and appreciate your understanding.

Well done to the students who presented their speeches to their houses today. The speeches were well practised and presented with confidence and it’s amazing to see so many young leaders within our senior school. The successful candidates for the student council representative will be announced at prize giving.

It is that time of year again when we farewell our Year 8 students and celebrate our tamariki’s achievements!! Whakarongo School prizegiving will be held at the Regent on Broadway, Monday 26th November at 7pm. A reminder that students need to be proudly representing Whakarongo School in neat and tidy, correct school uniform. More details around drop off and pick up times will be sent out later this week.

Inter-school athletics will take place on Wednesday 28th November (This is the CORRECT date as it has previously been advertised for Thursday 29th). We wish those participating at the inter-school athletics the best of luck!

Our homework task this week will be to choose from the Chapter Chat activities for Gangsta Granny. As always, basic facts and spelling can be found on the blog, and we encourage all students to read for 20 minutes every night.

Kia pai tō koutou rā (Have a nice day),
Kahurangi Pouako
