Rātaka ō te wiki - Wiki Waru

Kia Ora whānau rāua tamariki,

Wow, week 8 already - and we are still going full steam ahead in Kahurangi with the week ahead focused on completing our amazing art projects for our Canvas for Change conceptual curriculum unit. Such great messages we are seeing come through around social issues in our world today. It’s awesome to see our ākonga thinking about how they can make positive choices in society.

A big congratulations to all of our Kahurangi tamariki for their efforts on Monday night at the school prize giving. What fantastic performances from the Kapa Haka rōpu Tuakana, school choir and our very own Hip Hop crew. Congratulations to those who were formally recognised for their achievements on Monday at prize giving also. We are so proud of each and every one of our learners, the tautoko (support) they showed for each other.

Another huge congratulations goes to all of our tamariki who took part in the Inter School Athletics competition last Wednesday. We were super proud of your attitude, effort and performances on the day. It is always special to get feedback from our school whānau about the wairua (spirit) you all showed - tu meke koutou! Certificates for Inter School placings will be presented at Badge Assembly on Thursday.
With the weather heating up, we are excited that the school pool is ready for use! We are booked in for optional swimming session every day this week - so please bring along your togs if you would like a chance to have some fun in the sun!

Badge Assembly will take place on Thursday 6th December at 11:30am. We welcome you all to come and celebrate our learners achievements.

There is no CRE this week.

There is no assembly this week.

On Friday we will start to take down all of our students wonderful learning that brightens our walls. Can you please ensure your tamaiti (child) brings a suitable bag to take home their books from this year.

School Reports will be sent home on Tuesday 11th December along with class placement notices. We look forward to acknowledging their mahi (work) this year.

As a special treat, we will be having a shared kai on Tuesday 11th December. There is no need to bring a plate - we will be supplying this.

The last day of Term 4 will be Wednesday 12th December at 12:30pm. Please make sure that you have made suitable arrangements for pick up of your very excited tamariki for that day!

Our homework task this week is designed to celebrate and reflect on the year. It is a great opportunity to talk with your tamariki about their thoughts on Kahurangi 2019 and the year they have had. Please find details on the homework tag on the blog.

Hei konā mai (Goodbye for now),
Kahurangi Pouako
